Trumpeter Caleb’s Joseph’s latest album, Only You, feels like a hearty plate of soul food you never knew you needed, until now.
For the past decade, Caleb’s unique trumpet styling has garnered a local fan base that is captivated by his blending of old school 90’s jazz, fused with his high-energy riffs inspired by musical genres that hail from the around the world.
Born and raised in Haiti, Caleb started playing the trumpet at age 13 in his father’s ministry.
“ I used to play at my dad’s church. Everyone at my church played an instrument so I started to feel pressured,” he chuckled.
“I couldn’t blow, I couldn’t read any music, I sucked at it. I got more serious about it when other kids in church were promoted to play in the band and I didn’t get picked.”
He got focused and practiced everyday until he was good enough to get promoted too. He fell in love with performing. He started landing gigs at weddings, restaurants, churches and festivals, collecting fans along the way. To the point he was passing gigs to other local musicians. His magnetic stage presence eventually started booking and selling out his own shows in local venues, throughout the country in big cities like Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Orlando and even Internationally
At age 22, he moved to Tampa, Fla. to get a degree in jazz studies. A chance encounter with a seasoned trumpet player at a local jazz bar introduced him to blues and “the Motown sound”. It influenced his playing style and changed his life.
“Soul music is what people listened to, what put me in the business,” Caleb said.

In 2013, he released his first album-- a self produced project called Souvenir ((now available on CDBaby @ https://bit.ly/3baz2iU )).
The ten seven-track album focused on his impeccable trumpeting prowess, showing that he was a musical force to be reckoned with.
However, his new album, “Only You” is set to have a greater purpose. “ I want my music to speak for me, to touch somebody’s soul, I want to help people feel better,” Caleb said.
He understands the connection between music, therapy and psychology; he wants his music to bring healing and joy to his listeners.
The music video for the title track Only You used all elements of nature, including earth, wind, fire and water.
“People forget they are living in a world of beauty...I want to remind people to enjoy nature,” Caleb said.
While anyone from any walk of life can appreciate the record, Only You is also a personal form of worship for the trumpeter.
“I wanted to do something for the creator. Someone created this, someone had to create this.”
The album is categorized as gospel jazz, but it encompasses many different sounds.
“It’s very diverse, it covers the 1950’s all the way to 2030,” he chuckles.
.
Caleb collaborated with producer Jean Danielson Pierre and sound engineer Presley Isaac of Ietrecord to accomplish Only You’s eclectic, wordly sound.
“We did traditional jazz, but there is a lot of other styles including pop, reggaeton, gospel, southern gospel, blues and electronic music---a very electronic sound.”
There’s even a song for babies, featuring the gentle voices of children, which was inspired by Caleb’s 6-month-old daughter.
A standout track that tugs at the heart strings is Faith, dedicated to Caleb’s father, Pastor Jean Lyonel Joseph, who passed away in 2015.
“He always had a message, ‘Nothing is impossible for God, and nothing is impossible for those who believe in God.’”
Caleb also wants this album to serve as an inspiration for other artists. He is doing this all without a record label, using own funds.
“All you need is determination and conviction and to believe in yourself.” Lately, Caleb Joseph has been touring and sharing the stage with major international artist such as Alex Boyé who was one of finalist at America's Got Talent and who has over 100 Millions on YouTube, and social media.
