What Happened To So So Def Records?

 

So So Def Records has not disappeared but is now part of a larger ecosystem, operating under new distribution deals. In February 2024, the label signed a significant partnership with Create Music Group, acquiring its back catalog and publishing rights while allowing founder Jermaine Dupri to sign new artists.

In April 2025, this was followed by another distribution deal with HYBE America, with the R&B duo DVSN being the first act signed under the new venture. This means So So Def continues to function as a label, releasing new music and nurturing talent under its historic brand, albeit with new corporate backing.
