While the world chases the next flashy distraction, it’s time to ditch the ‘Fear of Missing Out’ and embrace ‘JOMO – The Joy of Missing Out.’ Celebrated Finnish producer / artists Misha and cocabona’s new EP, JOMO, flips the script by inviting listeners to press pause, breathe deeply, and rediscover joy in the present moment.
Boasting more 190 million streams collectively, Misha and cocabona are redefining sonic boundaries. They seamlessly blend elements of soul, R&B, indie, hip-hop, and jazz, creating a project that celebrates the freedom of breaking free from perceived societal and environmental limitations. Dream big, and remain true to yourself.
Crafted between London, Helsinki, Amsterdam, and New York, the EP features an impressive roster of global talent, including Joya Mooi (NL), Kadeem Tyrell (UK), Latrell James (US), Relyae (US), ToriTori (US), Amelia Rose (UK), Tamara Mneney (DEN), and Jamiroquai drummer Derrick McKenzie, who appears on the single “The Present.”
“This isn’t a club record,” says MISHA, “it’s a soundtrack for those evenings when you don’t go out. Living in the moment doesn’t mean being everywhere at once — it means appreciating the quiet, present moments that often go unnoticed.”
Opening the EP is the title track “JOMO,” which sets the tone with a hypnotic mix of warm harmonies, fluid R&B melodies, and velvety atmospheric textures. Recorded at Spotify’s Metropolis Studios with acclaimed UK R&B / Soul visionary Kadeem Tyrell, the track is soulful yet quietly powerful – the spark that ignited the vision for the entire project.
The journey continues with “Long Way From Home,” where ToriTori’s soaring vocals intertwine with Latrell James’ introspective bars in a deeply human meditation on distance, creating a genre-blurring kaleidoscope of sound that intimately fuses Boston soul with hip-hop storytelling. Standout track “The Present” features Jamiroquai drummer Derrick McKenzie’s infectious rhythms alongside lush guitar work and Joya Mooi’s ethereal vocals, creating a jazzy, dynamic soundscape. Striking a perfect balance between intricate melodies and modern flair, the result is an upbeat, immersive listening experience that feels both familiar and fresh. Joya adds, “it’s about having the courage to listen within, rather than following external expectations.”
The EP then moves into “Wrong or Right,” exploring toxic relationships and heartbreak through Amelia Rose’s raw emotive delivery, woven together with a rich tapestry of downtempo, neo-soul, R&B, and dream-pop textures all elevated by her soulful, honey-drenched vocals. Progressing to “Star of The Show,” the tone shifts to empowerment, as Faroe Island R&B artist Tamara Mneney dazzling vocals power a radiant, seductive anthem celebrating presence, confidence, and self-love.
Concluding the EP is “All Day Long,” a heartwarming and reflective track wrapped in a gentle, lullaby-esque sound. Featuring Relyae’s tender vocals and Monma’s delicate production, the song envelops listeners in warmth and serenity, creating a blanket of harmonious closure.
Misha and cocabona’s decade-long creative partnership, forged in Finland’s beat scene, boasts a comprehensive and diverse array of collaborations such as Jordan Astra, KALLITECHNIS, Evil Needle, and more. Following a celebrated performance at London’s Jazz Café and Misha’s official remix for GRAMMY-winner Lalah Hathaway, the duo will embark on a European tour this November, with stops in London, Paris, Milan, Amsterdam, and Berlin. With a shared emphasis on live instrumentation, emotional depth, and genre fluidity, their production frames each guest artist’s performance in a way that feels intimate yet expansive. JOMO is not just a record; it’s a statement of artistic intent, reclaiming stillness as a radical and joyful act in an overstimulated world.
In the lead-up to the EP, Misha and cocabona’s singles “The Present,” “Long Way From Home,” and “Wrong Or Right” have secured prestigious spots on playlists such as Spotify’s Next Wave Soul, Soul Coffee, Soul N The City, as well as Apple Music’s Emerging R&B Songs, Alt R&B, Cozy Winter Nights, and Smooth and Easy, cementing JOMO as one of the year’s most anticipated releases.
FOMO is dead. Long live JOMO.
