Anyone that knows me should know that I am a proud Ohioan. There is a lot of talent in Ohio; however, I don't feel like we get the attention we deserve. So, as I listened in on the Nerve DJ's conference call, I was excited to hear a Ohio artist named Shawn C introduce his anthemic new single FROM THE O (O.H.I.O.)
Shawn Cargill a.k.a Shawn C is an Akron native that is gearing up for the release of his mixtape Allergic to Broke Volume 1. Just days after the Nerve DJs conference call I had the opportunity to speak directly to Shawn C. It was refreshing to hear an artist from Ohio that was so passionate about using his talent to help bring attention to Ohio. Like me, he believes that Ohio does not get the attention or love that it truly deserves, and he's going to do something about it. With many choices available for a lead single from his mixtape he wanted to go with From The O to set the tone and give you a piece of who he is. He also recruited Cleveland's own Ray Jr. for an additional Ohio assist on the song.
Shawn started down his musical path around the age of 13 by participating in talent shows and by 2004 his professional career was underway. Having several years in the business under his belt he has traveled with the likes of Jeezy, Webbie, Paul Wall and more. You may be familiar with Shawn C from some of his previous songs like LET'S GO which featured the legendary hip hop duo the Youngbloodz.
With drive and talent to match his passion Shawn is determined to bring shine not only to himself, but to the untapped market of his home state O-H-I-O. I look forward to watching Shawn C storm the national stage.
