What began as a vision to uplift family through music has grown into a movement that’s empowering independent artists across the map. In 2013, Kaylee Sidris—known simply as Kay—founded Independent Chicks Ent. with the goal of pushing her people to unlock their fullest potential. What started close to home turned into a platform that's changing the narrative for indie talent everywhere.

Fueled by the hustle of two unstoppable Black women, the brand caught fire just as social media started reshaping the music game. Kay and her team leaned into that moment—embracing marketing, branding, and visibility in ways most artists hadn’t tapped into yet. What followed was a journey of building, learning, and betting on themselves every single step.

Over the years, Independent Chicks Ent. began creating a range of opportunities for up-and-coming artists—from talent showcases and mixtapes to online radio, podcasts, and indie music festivals. Not every move was a win, but each one helped build their legacy and sharpen their strategy. They stayed consistent, they stayed loud, and most importantly—they stayed rooted in community.

The mission became bigger than just family. Kay and her team saw how many artists lacked the support, direction, and motivation they needed to stay inspired. So they stepped in, offering not just platforms, but purpose. Their passion didn’t go unnoticed. In 2019, they were nominated for Marketer of the Year at the North Mississippi Music Awards. They also hosted several mixtapes, including one for the legendary Memphis artist La’Chat. In 2020, Kay earned the title of Industry Judge of the Year from the Hood Idol Awards. They launched an online radio station via Live365, which reaches audiences as far as the United Kingdom. In 2022, they introduced the Indie Music & Food Festival in Hattiesburg, Mississippi—a new stage for unsigned talent to shine. That same year, they were honored with the SSC Team Award, and in 2023, they received a nomination from the Southern Entertainment Awards.

Through it all, the message has been clear: they believe in the independent artist. No label? No problem. Independent Chicks Ent. is proof that with enough heart, hustle, and consistency—you can create your own lane and thrive in it.

This isn’t just about promotion. It’s about legacy. It’s about lifting others as you climb. And it’s about showing the world that independent artists have everything it takes.
