Missing From: Aurora , Illinois

Crystal Mayfield Aurora police are looking for help in locating a 16-year-old girl who has not been seen since Sept. 21.


Crystal Mayfield was last seen at 10 a.m. leaving Aunt Martha's Children's Center in the 100 block of South Lake Street, Aurora, police said. She left the facility without permission from staff, police said.


Police described Mayfield as a black female, 5-foot-2, 119 pounds with brown eyes, black hair and deformed right hand, police said. She was last seen wearing a brown and burgundy plaid vest and blue jeans, police said.


Police said they have taken all the standard steps in a missing person investigation, including talking to anyone who might have knowledge about where she is. They also submitted her name to a national database and sent her photo to nearby agencies, Aurora police said.


"Obviously, we're concerned for safety," said Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli. "We don't have any reason to believe she is in danger, but she's 16 and we're concerned.
"

Nguyen coaches a basketball team, and was expected to meet a fellow coach to travel to Reno together for a basketball tournament in Reno on the morning of October 4.
