A native of New Jersey, Toy Robinson A.K.A. Rif Raf and family moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1980. It is where he became one of the most respected emcees in Cleveland underground rap. Rif Raf was introduced to hip hop at an early age by his older brother, a DJ who played every hip hop hit from 1978 to the late 80’s. An award winning writer in high school, Rif Raf used writing skills to create his unique rhyme format. Known for his explosive delivery and lyrical dexterity, the self proclaimed “Blue Collar Emcee” fuses Golden-Age nostalgia with a new age rhyme flow. He addresses everything from his emcee status to society’s ills. Rif Raf considers himself to be a conscience emcee with an edge and focuses on lyrical content with a down to earth approach which some say is the corner stone of Midwest rap.
